PMKISAN GoI 2.5

The Government of India introduced a new initiative known as the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) as part of efforts to enhance the revenue of Small and Marginal Farmers (SMFs). Launched in February 2019, this scheme is overseen by the Department of Agriculture, Cooperation & Farmers Welfare (DAC&FW) under the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare. It operates through the agriculture departments of each State and Union Territory Government. Eligible landholding families can expect a direct payment of Rs. 6000 annually, distributed in three installments of Rs. 2000 every four months.

Various strategies have been put in place by the Government to ensure widespread enrollment in the PM-KISAN program. Public interfaces are accessible for self-registration, payment status checks, and name corrections according to Aadhaar, a mandatory requirement for participation. Furthermore, to increase accessibility, the PM-KISAN mobile application, developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) within the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India, has been introduced.
